a historical journey in time...

the first time i'm blogging after such a long absence.. did you guys miss me? =)

went to malacca yesterday in the afternoon with my baby. travelled by tuas and just in case you wanted to know, you'd have to put aside RM$71.60 for the total (to & fro) toll charges.

we set off late, so we reached at about 6pm or so. went to christ church, but we were greeted by closed gates because the museum closed at 5.30pm. so we proceeded to walk around the place, and realised that we could go to st. paul's church by climbing up a long flight of stairs. according to my map, we climbed 25m towards heaven.

since it was called st. paul's church, we expected to see... a church... right? not.

it was the remains of an abandoned church with lots of tombstones to remember the dutch who laid (or still lay, i'm not sure) there. nonetheless, it was still a nice historical journey to travel. but can you believe that my baby wanted us to hold our wedding there? freaky. the sky was getting darker, and i wanted to get to the shopping centre to walk around for a while before grabbing dinner, so we adjourned to mahkota parade.

wanted to buy a pair of boots, but i realised it's not worth paying for, so i didn't buy it. went into nose (this fantastic shoe shop), but didn't wanna buy anything cos i was on a budget. i couldn't resist it when i finally went into vincci, so i bought this blue and beige pair of ballet pumps. ahh... satisfaction! =)

after waiting for eons at the carpark payment machine, we paid up and went on our way to malacca's chinatown. we kind of lost our way (again) thanks to the lousy map and their lousy road infrastructure, and ended up there at about 8pm.

the place was like a big pasar malam. they closed off a few roads, which was why we kind of got lost around the area. i walked to the first stall and i realised i got ripped off by RM$2 by the pineapple tarts seller at mahkota parade. what a start! -__-"

so we continued walking and realised that there were so many stuff to eat there, and my stomach was already grumbling, so we sat in front of a stall and started ordering stuff to eat. we had black carrot cake for RM$2.50 (it was ALOT), nonya laksa for RM$2.50 (which tasted more like curry), and dim sum (8 pieces for RM$3). dirt cheap!

we walked down the long stretch of road then realised that there were more food stalls ahead - rendang noodles, ice kachang, chicken rice balls - but we settled for a dessert of hot crispy pancake with creamy corn and peanuts. yummy! i bought a pirated pack of uno cards with winnie the pooh prints, and headed back to singapore after that.

so that was my day in malacca - a refreshing change from the usual johor bahru! =)
